A Review of Visualization Technologies for Developping Latent Fingerprints on Wet Surfaces
Fingermarks can be used to identify individuals and play an important role in forensic investigation and prosecution. In crime scenes,if the surface is or has been wet, then the water-soluble component of the latent deposit will no longer be available for fingermark detection.Hence the application of conventional techniques for fingermark detection and enhancement such as cyanoacrylate fuming,or ninhydrin would serve no purpose. Therefore, developing latent fingermarks on wet surfaces has always been a challenge. This paper reviews the advantages and disadvantages of latent fingermark development methods on wet surfaces such as small particle reagent, physical developer,multi-metal deposition, single metal deposition,Oil Red O,as well as nile red, analyzes the limitations and development directions, which provides a theoretical basis for further research.
