The impact of childhood trauma on non-suicidal self-injury behavior of adolescents:The chain mediating role of interpersonal relationships and experience avoidance
Objective To explore the relationship between childhood trauma and non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)behavior in adolescents,as well as the chain mediating effect of interpersonal relationships and experience avoidance on the relationship between them.Methods The questionnaire survey was conducted among 395 middle school students in Shandong province using Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(CTQ-SF),Interpersonal Relationship Scale(IRS),Acceptance and Action Questionnaire(AAQ-Ⅱ)and Adolescent Self Injury Behavior Questionnaire(ANSAQ).Results CTQ-SF was positively correlated with AAQ-Ⅱand ANSAQ(P<0.001);IRS was negatively correlated with CTQ-SF,AAQ-Ⅱ,and ANSAQ(P<0.001);AAQ-Ⅱ was positively correlated with ANSAQ(P<0.001).Mediation model showed that the direct effect of CTQ-SF on ANSAQ was significant;the separate mediating effects of IRS and AAQ-Ⅱ between CTQ-SF and ANSAQ,the chain mediating effect of IRS and AAQ-Ⅱ were also significant,accounting for 19.811%,7.547%,20.755%of the total effects respectively.Conclusion Interpersonal relationships and experience avoidance have a chain mediating effect between childhood trauma and NSSI behavior in adolescents.
