This article combines practical experience in projects and divides the highway expansion and renovation projects into four common cross-section types of general sections,sections passing through villages,sections passing under existing structures,and sections with a combination of filling and excavation.It provides corresponding design recommendations for each type in order to reduce the cross-section size.By using this article as a reference,road designers can obtain new ideas on reducing cross-section sizes and achieve cost and land savings in expansion and renovation projects through design measures.
