Effect of coarse and fine steel slag aggregates on the performance of AC-13 asphalt mixture
Steel slag asphalt mixture was prepared by replacing basalt with coarse and fine steel slag aggregates by volume method, and its volume stability, high and low temperature performance, and water stability were studied. It was compared with full basalt asphalt mixture. The results show that both coarse and fine steel slag aggregates can reduce the volume stability of asphalt mixtures, especially steel slag fine aggregates. The coarse steel slag aggregate has varying degrees of improvement effect on the various road performance of asphalt mixture.Fine steel slag aggregate can improve the low-temperature performance of the mixture, but has adverse effects on high-temperature performance and water stability. At a substitution level of 80%,the high-temperature rut depth can reach 2.235 mm,and the freeze-thaw splitting TSR value is less than 80%.In engineering applications, its substitution level should be less than 40%.
