On the Essence of Children's Play and Its Implications to Education
The ever-changing digital technology and games are transforming children's modes of thoughts and communications through controlling their time,attention,and cognitive habits.Nonetheless,children's play cannot be simply treated as"spiritual residues",which has the pro-found connotations.Playing games is the free expressions of children's humanity,children's perfor-mance of creativity,children's rule-based activities,and children's work.And so games contain rich educational spirits,unique educational modes,and plural curriculum forms.In order to embody these educational vales appropriately,we should reconstruct the relationship between play and edu-cation,change play into curriculum based on high-order thinking,make play as children's styles of deeper learning,and transform digital games into children's thought experiment.Based on these strategies,we will truly integrate children's happy learning and deeper learning.
