Rich Accumulation,Vast Breakthrough and Comparative Identification——On Zhao Jingshen's Vernacular Novels in the Song and Yuan Dynasties
Zhao Jingshen believes that the"four schools of storytelling skill"in the Southern Song Dynasty are novels,sutras(with reference),history and gags.He attached importance to the study of the works itself and advocated judging the completion time of vernacular novels in the Song and Yuan Dynasties according to the culture,system and customs in the text.He discussed the relationship between Pinghua(平话)printed in the Yuan Dynasty and chapter novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasty,and paid attention to the marks of separate chapters.Zhao Jingshen was good at using the method of comparison,found problems in comparison,and provided research ideas and clues for future generations.Zhao Jingshen's academic research was influenced by scholars such as Lu Xun and Zheng Zhenduo.He also enthusiastically helped his friends and carefully trained his students.
