Study on the Main Occurrence Regularity on Scythropiodes issikii in Northwest Shandong Province
Scythropiodes issikii(Takahashi,1930),formerly known as Odites issikii,is a leaf-feeding pest of many kinds of forest and fruit plants. It was found that Scythropiodes issikii used more than 20 kinds of plants as host, such as Platanus orientalis,Fraxinus velutina,Styphnolobium japonicum,Zanthoxylum bungeanum,Vitex negundo and so on in the northwestern part of Shandong Province.Three generations occurred per year, overwintering with the first or second instar larvae in branch cracks, buckskin, etc.Adults occurred mainly in early-mid June,mid-to late July and early-August and early-mid September. The habits of adults and larvae and the characteristics of larval leaf-folding and curling damage are described in detail.Preliminary determination, the larvae had six instars, and the average head width of each instar was 0.24,0.35,0.53,0.78,1.09,and 1.57 mm,respectively. The parasitic natural enemies in the larval stage include Sympiesis dolichogaster,Sympiesis viridula,Baryscapus sp.,Itoplectis alternans epinotiae, and Chelonus sp.Pest control recommendations were provided.
