With the rapid development of the automotive industry in recent years, the competition in the domestic automotive market has become fierce. In order to expand market share and improve competitiveness, domestic automakers have turned their attention to overseas markets such as Southeast Asia. But Southeast Asian markets such as Malaysia,Indonesia,Thailand, etc.are all right-hand drive models. If a new right-hand drive model is developed separately for the Southeast Asian right-hand drive market,it is not cost-effective in terms of time, cycle, and cost. Therefore, the main engine manufacturer will use the left-hand drive model that sells well in China as the basis to achieve symmetrical design and maximize universal parts, thereby shortening the development cycle and saving development costs. This article takes two right-hand drive electric SUVs(Sport Utility Vehicles,SUVs)developed by the author as examples to introduce the role of Ergonomic&Package layout in the development process of right-hand drive electric SUVs,and combines the experimental problems feedback from these two right-hand drive SUVs in mule and test vehicles,as well as the solutions as examples so as to provide design references for the subsequent development of right-hand drive vehicles.
