Objective Nowadays,in the era of accelerated iteration of intelligent, informatization and interconnected communication digital technologies, the human-computer interaction relationship of automobiles has moved from the interaction relationship of independent physical instruments to the multi-screen and multi-modal interaction relationship of scenarios. The traditional human-computer interaction design of automobiles can no longer meet the diverse needs of people for intelligent cockpits in travel scenarios. This paper summarizes the current literature on automotive multimodal interaction design, sorts out the development process of automotive interaction design, and summarizes the design principles, basic technologies and evaluation methods of multimodal design. Results Through the literature study, the current limitations of automotive cockpit interaction design in the context of the new era and the future trend of the development of automotive interaction design to multimodal interaction design are summarized. Conclusion At present, the multimodal human-computer interaction design of intelligent cockpit is faced with the lack of systematic design code principles and multi-sensory resource scheduling,so how to avoid the two main problems of increasing cognitive load and provide more personalized services:information exchange between vehicles and the future development trend of interaction between vehicles and other carriers.
