The Sage Litterateur:Confucius Writing in Chinese Literature History in the English-speaking Academia
From 1901 to 2022,there are 10 works in English-speaking academia that have focused on writing about Confucius in the history of Chinese literature,exhibiting significant methods and characteristics.These writings affirm Confucius'position as the founder of Chinese literature,reveal Confucius'literary life,prioritize the examination of literary-cultural history and cross-cultural literary interpretations,and provide timely updates on the latest studies on Confucius in Chinese academia.The English academic community started to write Confucius in the history of Chinese literature earlier than that in China,which has an international significance as the"Confucius:the Sage Litterateur"in the perspective of world literature history.The idea of classification and compilation for professional and ordinary readers,and specific reading methods,own important enlightening value.This provides a typical case for the exchange and mutual learning of Confucianism between China and foreign countries and promotes the in-depth development of international Confucianism.
