Analysis of the coupling relationship between rural basic public services and multidimensional poverty in Hechi City
Basic rural public services serve as a crucial indicator of villages'comprehensive development status, and exploring the relationship between these services and multidimensional poverty offers vital insights for guiding poverty eradication efforts and alleviating relative poverty. This paper takes 652 key support villages in Hechi City as the research subject, examines the comprehensive level of basic public services in these administrative villages, constructs a model to measure basic public services and multidimensional poverty at the village level, based on the results of the coupling model, explores the coupling and coordination relationship,as well as the underlying influence mechanisms, between basic public services and multidimensional poverty, thereby providing a reference for further promoting rural revitalization and sustainable development. The results reveal that the level of basic public services in the study area exhibits a decreasing trend from the center outwards, whereas the level of multidimensional poverty increases from northwest to southeast, displaying both dispersive and concentrated characteristics.Spatially, the coupling dynamics between basic public services and multidimensional poverty are unbalanced, and although the overall distribution is even, there is a regular concentration in specific regions. In areas where coupling development is coordinated,a clear negative correlation is observed between basic public services and multidimensional poverty, indicating that enhancing the level of basic public services can effectively alleviate multidimensional poverty, ultimately reducing poverty and creating better conditions for the further development of public services. However,in regions exhibiting a non-coordinated coupling relationship, there is a positive correlation between basic public services and multidimensional poverty.Increasing the level of basic public services may not effectively address poverty issues and may even exacerbate economic decline and imbalances. Therefore, while implementing the rural revitalization strategy, local governments must establish a scientific and systematic mechanism for both basic public services and poverty alleviation assistance, aiming to improve the living environment and quality of life for farmers. This will ensure that the region can steadily emerge from poverty and achieve sustainable development.
