Effect of Lichong Granules on Sex Hormone Levels and Uterine Smooth Muscle in Mice with Uterine Leiomyoma
Objective To investigate the effects of Lichong Granules on sex hormone levels,uterine smooth muscle,weight and coefficient of uterus and ovary in mice with uterine leiomyoma.Methods A mouse model of uterine leiomyoma was established by intramuscular injection of estradiol benzoate.72 ICR female mice were randomly divided into 6 groups:control group,model group,three different doses(7.5,5,30 g/kg)of Lichong Granules groups and Guizhi Fuling Capsules group(0.47 g/kg).The drugs were administered orally for 15 consecutive days.24 hours after final administration,after cardiac blood collection,the serum sex hormone levels of mice in each group were determined.After blood collection,the mice were sacrificed,dissected and weighed,the maximum vertical and transverse diameters of uterus were measured and the organic coefficient was calculated,and histopathological examination was performed.Results Three doses of Lichong Granules could significantly reduce uterine weight,uterine organ coefficient,serum estradiol(E2),progesterone(P),follicle stimulating hormone(LH)and estrogen receptor(ER)levels in mice with uterine leiomyoma(P<0.05).The medium and high doses of Lichong Granules could significantly reduce the serum progesterone receptor(PR)level in mice with uterine leiomyoma(P<0.05),and the high dose of Lichong Granules could significantly reduce the serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)level in mice with uterine leiomyoma(P<0.05).The three doses of Lichong Granules could improve the pathological histomorphology of uterus in mice with uterine leiomyoma to varying degrees.Conclusion Lichong Granules have certain therapeutic effect on uterine leiomyoma in mice.
