Effect of Different Sterilization Methods on Retention Rate of Ferulic Acid in Angelicae Sinensis Radix Powder
Objective To investigate the sterilization effect of different sterilization methods for Angelicae Sinensis Radix powder and the effect of different sterilization methods on retention rate of ferulic acid. Methods The physical properties, the number of microorganisms and the retention rate of ferulic acid of Angelicae Sinensis Radix powder before and after sterilization by wet heat sterilization, dry heat sterilization and high temperature instantaneous sterilization were compared. Results After sterilization in different ways, the color of the powder had different degrees of deepening, the number of microorganisms met the requirements, and ferulic acid had different degrees of loss. While under the condition ensuring that the sterilization effect was qualified, the retention rate of ferulic acid in the powder treated with high temperature instantaneous sterilization was the highest, which could reach more than 90.0%.Conclusion Compared with wet heat sterilization and dry heat sterilization, high temperature instantaneous sterilization is more advantageous for Angelicae Sinensis Radix powder containing ferulic acid.By high temperature instantaneous sterilization, the number of microorganisms in Angelicae Sinensis Radix powder can be reduced to the specified limit, and the content of ferulic acid can be retained to the maximum, which ensures the quality of Angelicae Sinensis Radix powder.
