Progress on Application of Inulin in the Fields of Medicine and Food
Inulin is a kind of natural polysaccharide,which is mainly derived from chicory,Jerusalem artichoke,dahlias and other plants.Inulin has biological activities such as enhancing immune response,reducing inflammatory response,anti-oxidantion,anti-fatigue,improving glucose and lipid metabolism disorders,and increasing bone density.At present,inulin has broad prospects in the fields of medicine and food.In the field of medicine,inulin is used as a drug delivery carrier,drug stabilizer,vaccine adjuvant,and renal function diagnostic agent,etc.It has natural advantages as an iron fortifier,liver injury repair agent,and intestinal mucosal protective agent.In the field of food industry,inulin is used as the main raw material to produce foods that have the effects of relieving constipation,reducing blood lipids,and controlling blood sugar.The purpose of this study is to systematically summarize the research achievements of inulin in the fields of medicine and food,and put forward the shortcomings and prospects,so as to provide theoretical basis for the product development of inulin in the fields of medicine and food.
