Protective Effect and Irritation of Dimethyl Silanol Hyaluronate on Mucosa
Objective To evaluate the protective effect and safety of dimethyl silanol hyaluronate(DSHA)on mucosa. Methods Toads were used as experimental animals, and the protective effect of DSHA on nasal mucosa was evaluated by observing the lasting time of ciliary movement in palate mucosa of toads under a light microscope.New Zealand rabbits and golden hamsters were used as experimental animals to evaluate the safety of DSHA on mucosa by observing the irritation of DSHA on nasal mucosa of New Zealand rabbits and oral mucosa of golden hamsters. Results DSHA did not irritate the nasal mucosa of New Zealand rabbits and the oral mucosa of golden hamsters.DSHA with relative molecular mass(Mr)of(780-1680)×103 could significantly alleviate the damage caused by dryness and drug on the palate mucosa of toads. Conclusion DSHA has no irritation on nasal cavity of rabbits and oral mucosa of golden hamsters, and has a significant protective effect on palate mucosa of toads, thus can be used for development of mucosal protective agents.
