Back-care Behavior Assessment Questionnaire(BABAQ-C)for Chinese Children and Adolescents:Translation and Reliability&Validity Analysis
Objective:To translate the Englishversion of the Back-care Behavior Assessment Questionnaire(BABAQ-C)and test its reliability and validity for evaluating back health behaviors in Chinese children and adolescents. Methods:Using the Brislin translation model, the Chinese version is finalized after translation,back-translation,expert review, and a pilot study involving 260 fifth-grade students.A total of 260 students aged 9-12 from a primary school in Shanghai were selected for the survey to test its reliability and validity. Results:The BABAQ-C questionnaire consists of 26 items, with a total score range of 16-86.In the validity test, the I-CVI of each item ranged from 0.75 to 1.00,and the S-CVI was 0.94.Exploratory factor analysis in structural validity extracted four common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 62.68%;The confirmatory factor analysis model fits well after revision,字2/df=1.56,RMSEA=0.05,SRMR=0.06,RMR=0.06,IFI=0.93,CFI=0.93,GFI=0.87,TLI=0.92.The Cronbach's alpha coefficient is 0.83,the half fold reliability being 0.80,and the test-retest reliability being 0.90.Conclusions:The questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and is suitable for evaluating back health behaviors and risk factors in Chinese children and adolescents, helping to identify high-risk individuals. This questionnaire is based on social cognitive theory and can assess psychological and behavioral factors.By integrating the questionnaire into school health education activities, the pertinence of back health education can be enhanced, helping students develop and maintain healthy back protection behaviors. The questionnaire can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of back health education activities for adolescents, providing empirical basis for understanding and improving back health education methods, and further promoting research and health education development in related fields.
