《文心雕龙》英译的外显化策略分析

摘要
本文基于自建汉英平行语料库,对《文心雕龙》宇文所安译本和施友忠译本的外显化特征进行定量和定性相结合的研究.通过提取威氏拼音和词汇、句法层面的参数发现:两个英译本总体呈现外显化特征,主要体现在译文的语言及诗学形式、词句意义和文化语境等方面,背后的非文本原因可归于翻译意图、文化立场和意识形态等因素.两位译者的外显化翻译使译文指涉更加明确,语境更加清晰,意义更易理解,原著的文论思想、美学精神和文化内涵得到充分阐释.外显化翻译在信息补偿、话语建构和文论互动方面具有一定价值,表明其作为中国古代文论的指导性翻译策略具有可能性和可行性.
Abstract
Based on a self-built Chinese-English parallel corpus,this paper makes a study on explicitation in the two English versions of Wenxin Diaolong by Stephen Owen and Vincent Yu-chung Shih from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives.The results show that both versions present notable explicitation in such ways as linguistic form,lexical and sentential meaning,syntax and cultural context,which can be attributed to various aspects,including translation intention,cultural stance and ideology.Explicitation as the translation strategy makes the reference of the translation more specific,the context clearer and the meaning easier to understand,eliciting a full explanation of the literary theory,aesthetic spirit and cultural connotation of the original work.Explicitation has a certain value in information compensation,discourse construction and literary theory interaction,manifesting its possibility and feasibility as a guiding translation strategy of ancient Chinese literary theory.
