摘要
汉英因果复句的句法与语义界面是客观或主观因果关系复杂事件与其句法结构之间配对的象征结构.本文以认知语法为理论框架,基于BCC和COCA语料库中的真实语料,从客观和主观两个维度,探讨汉英因果复句的句法与语义界面及其实现机制与路径.研究认为,入场是实现汉英因果复句的句法与语义界面最有效、最经济的手段.概念化者借助于外显或隐含因果复句入场元素,将射体—陆标连接的客观或主观因果关系复杂事件转为意象图式,符号化为因果骨干复句;同时通过外显或隐含现在时或过去时、情态动词入场元素,或调用表征可能性的副词入场,对因果骨干复句进行实例化语法操作,实现客观或主观因果关系复杂事件与其句法结构之间的配对.它们之间相互作用,彼此映射,形成汉英因果复句的句法与语义界面.
Abstract
The syntax-semantics interface of cause-effect complex sentences in Chinese and English is a symbolic construction of pairing the complicated events with objective and subjective cause-effect relationship and their syntactic structure.In the theoretical framework of Cognitive Grammar,based on authentic data from BCC and COCA,this paper explores the syntax-semantics interface of cause-effect complex sentences in Chinese and English and its realization mechanism and paths from both the objective and the subjective dimensions.It is found that grounding is the most effective and economic strategy in realizing the syntax-semantics interface of cause-effect complex sentences in Chinese and English.The conceptualizer,with the overt or covert grounding elements of cause-effect complex sentences,transforms the complicated events with objective and subjective cause-effect relationship connected by trajector-landmark into the image schema,which is expressed by cause-effect skeletal complex sentences.The conceptualizer,with the overt or covert grounding elements of present or past tense,modal verbs,or using some adverbs expressing probability as grounding,grammatically instantiates the cause-effect skeletal complex sentence,pairing the complicated events with objective and subjective cause-effect relationship and their syntactic structure.They mutually interact with and are mapped to each other,thus forming the syntax-semantics interface of cause-effect complex sentences in Chinese and English.
