摘要
作为中国传统译论的重要组成部分,钱锺书的"化境说"对构建具有中国特色的新时代翻译理论意义重大.余承法新著《全译求化机制论——基于钱锺书"化境"译论与译艺的考察》在对前人相关研究全面细致梳理的基础上,结合钱锺书自译和钱氏作品他译语料的探讨,论述"化"体现为全译本质的五个基本特征,分析了等化、繁化、简化、移化、换化、分化、合化等 7 种全译求化单一机制,运用等化以外的 6 种机制组构成 5 类 57 种组合机制,进而构建了求化机制体系."多维的研究视角、厚实的学术基础、缜密的逻辑思维、小心的假设求证"是该书的四大特色."等""似""化""创"是翻译特别是文学翻译的理想追求和现实存在,是"化境说"的四大基本要素.在传统译论的深入挖掘、系统阐释和理论发展方面,该书做出了表率,值得向翻译专业师生和从业人员推荐.
Abstract
"Theory of Sublimity"proposed by Qian Zhongshu,as a significant aspect of traditional Chinese translation theory,continues to generate insights in the contemporary era.The exploration of sublimation mechanism is thoroughly examined in Yu Chengfa's new monograph On Sublimation Mechanism in Complete Translation:Based on the Interactive Exploration of Qian Zhongshu's Translation Though and Art of"Sublimity".The book initiates by defining"化"(hua)as the core essence of complete translation,following a meticulous investigation of Qian Zhongshu's self-translations and translations of his works by others.It identifies and expounds upon 7 basic types of singular sublimation mechanisms in complete translation,which include equalization,amplification,simplification,transposition,substitution,division,and combination.It further probes into 57 multiple sublimation mechanisms in 5 categories and establishes a system of sublimation mechanisms.The book's outstanding strengths lie in its exceptional multidimensional research perspectives,robust academic foundations,rigorous logical reasoning,and meticulous hypothesis verification.It serves as an exemplary contribution to the in-depth exploration,systematic interpretation,and theoretical advancement of traditional translation theory,thus being worth commending for translation scholars,teachers,students and practitioners.
