Discussion on"Systematic Sphygmology for Syndrome Differentiation"from Development of Pulse Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Systematic sphygmology for syndrome differentiation is a typical case of modern innovative pulse science.By tracing the origin of pulse science in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),we sorted out the development from traditional pulse science to modern pulse science,so as to summarize the theoretical system of systematic sphygmology for syndrome differentiation.Systematic sphygmology for syndrome differentiation has two basic characteristics:systematicness and syndrome differentiation. From the four aspects of pulse body, pulse wall, pulse wave and blood flow, total 25 pairs of pulse elements are classified to form the overall framework of systematic sphygmology for syndrome differentiation. The development of finger sensory system and diagnosis area are its characteristic technical points. From the pulse elements to the hierarchy and to the system,a clear thinking process has been formed, and then the diagnosis and treatment mode of syndrome differentiation based on correspondence between pulse and treatment is established.Systematic sphygmology for syndrome differentiation enriches the system connotation of pulse science in TCM,and plays a great role in promoting the multidisciplinary integration and TCM modernization.
