Quality Comparison and Analysis of Gewu Yimucao(Leonuri Herba)in Dongying and Commercially Available Yimucao
Objective:To evaluate and compare the quality between Gewu Yimucao(Leonuri Herba)in Dongying and commercially available Yimucao from multiple aspects.Methods:The quality of Gewu Yimucao from 3 producing areas and 15 batches of commercially available Yimucao were evaluated by measuring its plant morphology and fruit characteristics.The contents of stachydrine hydrochloride and leonurine hydrochloride were determined by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).The content of nitrogen was determined by automatic nitrogen determination method.Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)was used to determine the content of phosphorus.Results:The diameter of commercially available Yimucao was 0.2~0.5 cm,and the content of stachy-drine hydrochloride was 0.43%~1.80%,the content of leonurine hydrochloride was 0.062%~0.278%,while the diameter of Gewu Yimucao was 0.8~1.5 cm,and the content of stachydrine hydrochloride was 0.82%~2.45%,the content of leonurine hydrochloride was 0.203%~0.374%.The contents of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium in Gewu Yimucao were higher than those in commercially available Yimucao.The contents of physiological elements from high to low were potassium,calcium,magnesium and sodium.Their 1000-grain weight are basically the same.Conclusions:Compared with commercially available Yimucao,Gewu Yimucao is taller and stronger,with larger aspect ratio of fruit and higher germination rate.The contents of stachydrine hydrochloride and leonurine hydrochloride in Gewu Yimucao are far higher than those in commercially available Yimucao.The nutrient contents of nitrogen,phosphorus and physiological elements are rich.Gewu Yimucao is well worth promoting and planting.
