Academic Characteristics of Annotation on Exercising Caution When Treating Disease
This paper studied the unique extant work Annotation on Exercising Caution When Treating Disease of HAO Fengzhang,a famous doctor,medical activist and traditional Chinese medicine educator in Shandong Province during the Republic of China,and summarized the following characteristics of his academic thoughts:Firstly,he attached the importance to the classics,and pointed out that the key to following the right path and identifying the way in practicing medicine was to read the classics first.Secondly,he advocated the theory of cold damage,denounced the theory of warm disease,and vigorously refuted the theories of YE Gui,GU Jingwen,and WU Tang.Thirdly,he studied the theory of five circuits and six qi,advocated therapeutic principles based on syndrome differentiation according to the climatic and seasonal conditions,and applied the theory of circuit and qi to guide syndrome differentiation,medication and prescriptions.Fourthly,he paid attention to the doctor-patient rela-tionship,and believed that clinical mistakes were caused by both doctors and patients and put forward specific requirements for both doctors and patients.Fifthly,he had rich clinical experience,and was good at summarizing the key points of diagnosis and treatment of diseases,and could tell the key points with just a few words to enlighten clinical practice.
