Clinical Experience by CHAO Guojun in Treating Retinitis Pigmentosa Using"Reinforcing Yang and Eliminating Yin,Cultivating Root and Dredging Collaterals"Method
A proved case by Professor CHAO Guojun in treating retinitis pigmentosa was introduced.Yang qi is the root of man,and therefore the essence of retinitis pigmentosa is yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney.Yang deficiency leads to insufficient qi transformation and internal generation of yin evil.Excessive yin causes cold,and with the external cold evil,for cold evil is ongealing and stagnating,movement of yang qi and circulation of qi and blood are affected.Qi and blood can't reach and nourish the periphery of the retina,so that night blindness occurs.In clinical treatment of retinitis pigmentosa,yin and yang should be the major principle,which includes tonifying deficiency and supporting the foundation,taking into account both qi and blood,following the principle of"supporting yang and suppressing yin when the disease is in yang",first warming and tonifying the yang of the spleen and kidney,guarding the innate and acquired foundation,supporting yang and eliminating yin,dispersing evil and unblocking collaterals.Therefore,yang qi moves smoothly,and yin excess is resolved,qi and blood circulate fluently,manifesting as the improvement of eye sight and night blindness.
