Therapeutic Effect of Peiyuan Huoxue Decoction(培元活血汤)on Stable Angina Pectoris and Its Preventive Effect on Myocardial Infarction
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of Peiyuan Huoxue Decoction(培元活血汤)on stable angina pectoris(SAP)and its preventive effect on myocardial infarction.Method:A total of 98 patients with SAP were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method,with 49 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,while the observation group was treated with Peiyuan Huoxue Decoction in addition to the conventional western medicine.In both groups,each course of treatment lasted for 4 weeks,and a total of 2 courses were administered.Comparisons were made between the two groups in terms of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,angina conditions(duration,frequency,and severity),weekly nitroglycerin dosage,levels of serum inflammatory factors[high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)],incidence of myocardial infarction,and the therapeutic effect was evaluated in both groups.Results:After treatment,the TCM syndrome score was lower than that before treatment in both groups,and TCM syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Both groups showed improvement in each angina symptom indicator compared to before treatment(P＜0.05),and the observation group exhibited better levels of angina symptom indicators than the control group(P＜0.05).The weekly dosage of nitroglycerin was decreased in both groups compared to that before treatment(P＜0.05),and the observation group had a lower dosage than the control group(P＜0.05).The levels of all serum inflammatory factors in both groups were decreased compared to those before treatment(P＜0.05),and the levels of all serum inflammatory factors in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of myocardial infarction in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05),and the total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusions:The combination of Peiyuan Huoxue Decoction and conventional western medicine has proven to be effective in treating SAP.It can improve TCM syndrome and angina conditions of the patients,reduce the dosage of nitroglycerin,alleviate inflammatory reactions in the body,and lower the incidence of myocardial infarction.
