Research Progress on Traditional Chinese Medicine External Therapy in Treatment of Functional Constipation by Adjusting"Brain-Gut Axis"
Imbalance of the"brain-gut axis"is considered to be an important pathogenesis of functional constipation(FC),it mainly includes abnormal brain-gut neuromodulation and abnormal secretion of brain-gut peptides.External therapy of traditional Chinese medicine, such as acupuncture and moxibustion, can play a therapeutic role on FC by regulating the neural function of the brain-gut axis and regulating the content of brain-gut peptides.By referring to domestic and foreign literatures, this paper summarizes the effects of external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),including acupuncture, moxibustion, acupoint application, acupoint embedding, auricular acupressure and massage in regulating the"brain-gut interaction"in the treatment of FC.That is,TCM external therapies can regulate cerebral and intestinal nerves, restore the level of cerebral and intestinal peptides, alleviate the symptoms of constipation, and improve the psychological situation.Meanwhile, the shortcomings of the existing studies are discussed in order to provide ideas and references for the subsequent clinical and experimental research on TCM external therapies in the treatment of FC.There are 61 references.
