Exploration and Analysis of Development of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Peripheral Neuroregulation Technology from Theory of"Meridian-Viscera Correlation"
The theory of"meridian-viscera correlation"is a summary of diagnosis and treatment law of viscera diseases by acupuncture and moxibustion stimulation of body surface meridians or acupoints based on long-term medical practice, and it is closely related to the distribution law of nerve segments and the activation pathway of peripheral afferent-central pivot-effector organs. In recent years, the rise of modern peripheral neuroregulation technology has challenged the survival and development of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. This theory has an important enlightenment on the modern peripheral nerve regulation technology that has emerged in recent years, and it also brings challenges and opportunities to the survival and development of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. Therefore, this paper attempts to summarize the similarities and differences between acupuncture and moxibustion under the guidance of the meridian-collaterals theory and the newly emerging peripheral neuroregulation technology, and clarify the contradictions in their fusion and development, with a prospect of providing a new way of thinking for the development of the classical meridian-collaterals theory system.
