19 世纪德国传教士欧德理(Ernest John Eitel)编纂的《粤语方言词典》(A Chinese Dictionary in the Cantonese Dialect)是一部结构完整、体例完备的英粤双语方言词典.该词典在编纂方面极具特色:收录丰富的粤方言字、书面语和生活用语并存、字例词例编排合理.《粤语方言词典》能如实反映近代粤语的语音情况以及为规范粤方言书面语、梳理传教士宗教翻译思潮两方面提供切实帮助,是不可多得的传教士辞书文献.
Abstract
A Chinese Dictionary in the Cantonese Dialect,compiled by Ernest John Eitel,a 19th-century German missionary,is a bilingual English-Cantonese dialect dictionary characterized by detailed information and objective content.The dictionary is well-structured and comprehensive,featuring a wide array of Cantonese dialect words,the integration of written and everyday language,and a well-organized arrangement of word examples.Simultaneously,A Chinese Dictionary in the Cantonese Dialect holds high academic value in the fields of linguistics,philology,and religion.
