Spatial-temporal Evolution of Tourism Production Efficiency in Guangdong Province
Based on tourism input-output data, this paper analyzes the tourism production efficiency of Guangdong province from both static and dynamic aspects using data DEA-BCC and DEA-Malmquist index models. The results reveal that:(1)From the perspective of static efficiency, the tourism efficiency of Guangdong province in each year is less than 1,indicating there is still considerable room for improvement. The average tourism efficiency of cities in mountainous areas is the highest, surpassing the provincial average. However, the average tourism efficiency of cities in other regions is lower than the provincial average, with the Pearl River Delta having higher efficiency than the East Wing, and the East Wing higher than the West Wing.(2)Regarding dynamic efficiency, the average annual growth rate of tourism total factor productivity in Guangdong province is 7 percentage points, and technological progress is the main driving force for its growth.Except for Shenzhen and Zhuhai, the total factor productivity of tourism in other cities is greater than 1,indicating significant improvement in tourism efficiency.Hot spots and sub-hot spots of tourism total factor productivity growth in Guangdong province are shifting from the Pearl River Delta to the East,West, and Mountainous Areas, while cold spots and sub-cold spots exhibit the opposite trend.(3)Based on differences in tourism efficiency, cities in Guangdong province can be categorized into four types:dynamic, robust, potential, and conservative.
