Practice and Reflection on the Assessment Reform of the Biostatistics Course Based on Comprehensive Evaluation——Taking Shaoguan University as an Example
Biostatistics is an applied and practical tool course,serving as a compulsory foundational course for biological science majors.The current state of assessment in the biostatistics course in Shaoguan University was analyzed and strategies and methods for reforming the assessment approach were proposed.The author employs a strategy to reform the traditional assessment model,emphasizing process-oriented assessment,and integrating in-class quizzes and practical training with commonly used statistical software into the course evaluation,forming a comprehensive assessment model.Results from practical research indicate significant differences between traditional and comprehensive evaluation methods and the grading categories of overall assessment.The comprehensive evaluation assessment method aligns better with the demands of modern education.It can enhance students'learning enthusiasm and proactiveness,improve teaching effectiveness,stimulate students'interest in the subject,and foster a comprehensive development of students'overall competence.
