On the Theory of"Individual Psychology"and the Life Growth Education of Social Workers
The term"individual"in Adler's"individual psychology"refers to the particularity of each individual's psychological state, which also means it is a"whole";it emphasizes the wholeness or consistency of personality;at the same time, special emphasis is placed on the correlation between individual psychology and the environment(society)they are in.The theory of"individual psychology"mainly includes eight viewpoints. The first four viewpoints belong to the statement of"reality",presenting Adler's profound insights into human nature, psychology, and the relationship between humans and society;the last four viewpoints fall under the advocacy of"should be",which particularly highlights the characteristics of Adler's"teleological"psycho logy, namely the emphasis on human will freedom and active choice. The theory of individual psychology has the following three applications in the life growth education of social workers:firstly,it can enhance the self-awareness of social workers;secondly,it can enrich the life meaning of social workers;thirdly,it can enhance the life force of social workers.
