Study on Translation of Zhang Jiuling's Poem from the Perspective of Contrastive Studies of English and Chinese——Taking Three English Versions of Since My Lord From Me Departed as an Example
Translation of Chinese ancient classic poetry is an important means of advocating and transmitting excellent traditional Chinese cultures.It is possible to explore how to faithfully and perfectly reproduce and restore the original poem on the basis of contrastive studies of English and Chinese when Chinese ancient poems are translated into English.The study,taking Zhang Jiuling's Since My Lord From Me Departed as an example,contrasts and analyzes its three English versions translated by Xu Yuanchong,Herbert Allen Giles and William John Bainbrigge.Fletcher respectively in terms of content,form and style,interprets the differences from language,culture and thinking mode and reveals the essence of the English and Chinese differences.
