Income Effect of Chinese Residents' Participation in Physical Exercise:An Empirical Study based on the China Labor-force Dynamics Survey
From the perspective of residents participating in physical exercise, the income effect is discussed, and the economic value of sports is clarified, with a view to provide new ideas for improving the national awareness of sports and promoting common prosperity. The impact and mechanism of physical exercise on individual income are empirically tested using data from the China Labor-force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)and the Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS).The results show that participation in physical exercise has a significant positive impact on the income of the residents.Improving health,well-being,social class, and social support are the key pathways through which participation in physical exercise impacts residents'incomes, but participation in physical exercise to increase social trust does not impact residents'incomes. The income effect of participation in physical exercise is mainly found in the male,urban,high-school-educated,eastern,and middle-aged groups;participation in physical exercise has a significant positive impact on the income of married and unmarried residents, but the income effect from participation in physical exercise is more pronounced among residents who are not married than among those who are married. So,the following recommendations are proposed:focusing on the role of physical exercise in promoting common prosperity, promoting the equalization of basic public services for national fitness, and establishing a more perfect protection mechanism for the rights and interests of national physical exercise.
