Research on the Influences of National Sports Consumption Pilot Cities Policy on Regional Economic Growth:Based on Evidence from Quasi-natural Experiments
Consumption is the core engine to drive high-quality economic development,and the national sports consumption pilot cities construction aims to cultivate new driving forces for sports consumption,promote high-quality development of the sports industry,and improve people's quality of life.This study selects the panel data of 288 prefecture-level cities in China from 2016 to 2022,and uses the difference-in-differences method to scientifically measure the effect mechanism of national sports consumption pilot cities policy on regional economic growth.The results show that the implementation of the policy has significantly promoted the regional economic growth,promoting the regional economic growth of 4.1 percentage points,and the results are still significant after the robustness test;The intermediary effect analysis shows that the policy mainly promotes regional economic growth by promoting the development of tertiary industry;The regional heterogeneity test shows that compared with the eastern region,the policy has a more obvious promoting effect on the economic growth of the central and western regions,which is conducive to promoting the balanced development of regional economy.Suggestions:consolidate the pilot results and enhance the radiation driving role;enrich consumption formats and enhance the stickiness of sports consumption;tap the resource endowment and promote regional coordinated development.
