Relationship between TCM college students' IAD cases and the five-state personality theory
Objective To explore the incidence of intemet addiction disorder (IAD) in the students who study at the schools of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its connection with five-state personality. Methods The IAD group and the control group were selected to study by CIAS.Results 52 IAD students in 853 college students were selected. The incidence of IAD in the samples is 5.51%.Scores of Taiyang and Shaoyang in the IAD group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.01),while scores of Taiyin and Shaoyin were significantly higher than those of the control group (P <0.01) ; scores of each IAD factor were positively correlated with the score of Taiyin factor (P < 0.01).Compulsive Internet behaviors, tolerance of Internet addiction, social and health issues scores were positively correlated with that of Shaoyin factor (P < 0.01).When Taiyin and Shaoyin entered the regression equation (F =9.903,P <0.01),they had obvious effect to predict IAD.Conclusion Personality of Taiyin and Shaoyin is closely related to IAD.It also indicates that Taiyin and Shaoyin scores can predict IAD.
