The Relationship between Family Functioning and Prosocial Behaviour in Preschoolers from the Junior Class:The Mediating Role of Secure Attachment and the Moderating Role of Gender
Guided by theories such as McMaster Family Functioning Mode Theory and Attachment Theory, this study aimed to examine the correlation between family functioning and prosocial behavior in preschoolers from the junior class, and also sought to explore the potential mediating effect of secure attachment and the moderating effect of gender based on the research sample 392 preschoolers se-lected from the junior class. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between family functioning, prosocial behavior, and secure attachment.Furthermore, secure attachment was found to partially mediate the relationship between family functioning and pro-social behavior.Importantly, gender was identified as a significant moderator in the relationship between family functioning and proso-cial behavior.Specifically, family functioning had a significant and positive impact on the prosocial behavior of female children, but did not show a statistically significant effect on the prosocial behavior of male children.
