Effects of Different Coverage Measures on Soil Moisture Content and Growth of Acer Mono Plantations
Taking Gu County in Shanxi Province as the research site, the changes in soil moisture content and seedling growth of 2-year-old Acer mono seedlings after afforestation under 5 coverage measures were compared and analyzed. The re-sults showed that the soil moisture content of each coverage measure after 3 rainfalls was higher than that of the control which sort in descending order as soil covered with dry grass>cardboard covered>plastic film covered>gravel covered>surface covered with dry grass. The average soil moisture content of each coverage measure in each month was higher than that of the control which sort in descending order as soil covered with dry grass>cardboard covered>plastic film covered>gravel covered>surface covered with dry grass.Overall, the treatment which soil covered with dry grass had the best water storage and retention effect, and the rate of soil moisture reduction was the slowest.
