Breeding and Key Cultivation Techniques of A New Juglans Regia Variety 'Jindan'
I seedling tree with red endothelium in the fruit in 2010 was used as the mother tree and grafted onto a 6-year-old rootstock by branch grafting.Varietal characteristics of the grafted plants were observed from 2016 to 2019,and specificity, consistency and stability were determined from 2020 to 2023.The results showed that Jindan is a new red kernel Juglans re-gia variety with moderate tree strength and medium branching power. In the south of Shanxi,it usually buds at the end of March, blooms in late April and matures in mid-September.Both terminal and lateral buds can flower and bear fruit, with a medium capacity for continuous fruiting. The endothelium of the nut is in red,and has a strong resistance to late frost damage and black spot disease. The endothelium color, young leaf color and phenological period of the mother tree and grafted trees are all stable. On this basis, cultivation and management techniques for this variety were proposed.
