Distribution Characteristics of Dry-hot Wind and Its Effect on Yield of Winter Wheat in Shanxi Province
Based on the daily meteorological data from 1971 to 2013 for 39 meteorological stations in Shanxi province, the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of average days and process times of dry-hot wind for winter wheat in Shanxi province were analyzed. The results showed that as for the dry-hot wind for winter wheat in Shanxi from 1971 to 2013,the annual average days and process times showed a slight decreasing trend. The most serious damages of dry-hot wind occurred in the 1970s,as the light and heavy dry winds were occurred most frequently in the 1970s.The lightest damages of dry-hot wind occurred in the 1980s.Dry-hot wind had been growing slowly since the 1990s.The areas of dry-hot wind occurred frequently, which was the southern of Linfen and Yuncheng basins, followed by the Jinzhong basin and the southeastern areas of Shanxi.Dry-hot wind is one of the most important agro-meteorological disasters in the main areas of wheat production in Shanxi. When the dry-hot wind occurs, the low relative air humidity is the important factor to decrease 1 000-grain quality and yield. It is important to prevent dry-hot wind from wheat production.
