Comprehensive Evaluation of Newly Bred Peanut Varieties in the Northern Part of the Country Based on Principal Component Analysis
In order to explore the characteristics of the new peanut varieties in the northern part of the country, and promote the efficient utilization and promotion of superior new peanut varieties,in this study, taking 16 test varieties in the 2020 and 2021 multi-point trial of new peanut varieties in the northern part of the country as the materials, diversity analysis, correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and cluster analysis were used to comprehensively analyze the agronomic traits, yields and quality traits of the 16 varieties in 18 trial planting sites. The results showed that the Shannon diversity index of the test varieties were all greater than 1,and the two years of coefficients of variation ranged from 2.34%to 54.74%.Cluster analysis found that at the Euclidean distance of 9.6,the test varieties could be clustered into four major groups, with each group having its own emphasis, the groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳincluded 9,1,5 and 1 varieties, respectively, the main characteristics were larger pod kernels with high fullness, taller plants, high yielding and high oleic acid, and shorter plants with high yield respectively, indicating that under the current breeding objectives of high yield, high quality and moderate plant size, the varieties in group Ⅲ had high development and utilization value, and the varieties in group Ⅳ had higher potential for improvement.Through principal component analysis,17 traits were simplified into five principal components with a cumulative contribution rate of 90.01%,reflecting most of the information of the main traits of the test varieties.According to the results of principal component extraction, the comprehensive evaluation of the test varieties showed that Kainong 113,Jihua 311,Puhua 75,and Puhua 73 had excellent comprehensive traits and fit the current breeding objectives. In conclusion,Kainong 113,Jihua 311,Puhua 75 and Puhua 73 were suitable for popularization of planting in the northern region of China, and could be used as parents in the selection of new varieties in preference to other varieties.
