Differential Analysis of Testicular Development in Adult Ducks
In order to explore the differences in testicular development in ducks with different semen volumes,in this study, adult Gaoyou ducks were taken as the research object. These ducks were divided into two groups:high semen volume and low semen volume groups. The weight and testicular weight of the two groups of ducks were measured, respectively.ELISA method was used to detect testosterone levels in the blood of the two groups.Microscopic observation and measurement of the area of the seminiferous tubules and the number of interstitial cells per unit area were performed after paraffin sectioning on the two groups of duck testicular tissue. The differences between the two groups were compared and correlation analysis was conducted. Finally, fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression levels of FSHR,LHR,AMH,and StAR in the two groups of duck testicular tissues. The results showed that the testicular weight, testicular volume, and testosterone levels in the high semen volume group were significantly higher than those in the low semen volume group. There was no significant difference in body weight, testicular index, seminiferous tubule area, and number of interstitial cells per unit field between the two groups.Correlation analysis showed that semen volume was significantly positively correlated with testicular volume. While testosterone content was significantly positively correlated with testicular weight and volume. The expression levels of testicular development related genes FSHR,LHR,AMH,and StAR.were significantly higher in the high semen volume group than those in the low semen volume group. These results indicated that the semen volume in male ducks was related to testicular weight and testosterone content. And testicular development related genes FSHR,LHR,AMH and StAR may play important roles in duck testicular development and spermatogenesis.
