Theoretical Interpretation,Practical Exploration, and Future Paths of Charitable Services in China
Rooted in Marxist perspectives and historical materialism on charity, charitable services are a crucial component of the charity system with distinctive Chinese characteristics.Their practical effectiveness plays a pivotal role in shaping the contribution of charity to the new era.In China, charitable services have witnessed significant development, marked by expanded scope, diverse participation, varied projects, and innovative approaches. While the policy framework for charitable services is gradually maturing, collaborative efforts in policy formulation and implementation extend from the central to local levels. However, the development of the policy system is still in its early stages, facing challenges such as rigid donor and recipient roles, underdevelopment of service-oriented charitable organizations, limited service specialization, insufficient infrastructure and space, and the lack of standardized quality and evaluation criteria. To address these challenges, charitable services in the new era should be tailored to fit China's context, responsive to the needs of the people, and effective in solving real-world issues. They should be aligned with the concept of Chinese-style charity, focus on providing non-profit social public services, and contribute to the overarching goal of common prosperity.
