Participatory Governance of Urban Regeneration:from Physical Space to Social Space
Paying attention to urban regeneration from the whole life cycle has attracted the attention of policy and practice, the existing research focuses mainly on the spatial construction and implementation stage of urban regeneration, rarely on the subsequent maintenance and use stage of urban regeneration space.Through the analysis of three-level cases in Shanghai, including micro-renewal at the community level, construction of living circles at the block level, and riverside space connection at the city level,it was found that whether urban regeneration brings the expected social consequences depends not only on the construction of physical space, but also on whether orderly social space is formed through participatory governance. The construction of physical space can be completed in a short time, but the formation of an orderly social space requires a longer period of running-in and exploration. From urban regeneration to a better life,we need to pay attention to the social space issues caused by the supply of physical space, and promote the sustainable development of urban regeneration through participatory governance.
