The Ningbo Prefecture Chronicle of Jiajing Reign was completed in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,when Wang Yangming's School of Mind was flourishing in eastern Zhejiang.This chronicle opened a volume of Neo-Confucian-ism and created a new section in old chronicles.The new approach was adopted by later chronicles as well.Regarding the standards of selecting people and contents,the Neo-Confucianists'biography volume of this chronicle follows three princi-ples:promoting Lu-Wang while repressing Cheng-Zhu,describing"academic and moral achievements"in detail while o-mitting"official careers",and highlighting"academic inheritance"while brushing over"self-education".It has revealed the influence and penetration of the Neo-Confucianism trend in the compilation of local chronicles.
