Shao Wenjie was one of the pioneers of local chronicles in the Peoples Republic of China and one of the main leaders of chronicle compilation after the work was resumed across the country in the early 1980s.He was also a pioneer,leader,and practitioner of the new chronicle compilation in Henan Province,serving as the chief editor of the first Chroni-cles of Henan Province(New)in person.His theoretical contributions are embodied in four aspects:the relationship be-tween history and chronicles,the innovation of the style of new chronicles,the collation of old chronicles,and the quality standards of chronicles.
