Study on environmental hydrogeological characteristics of the Yangtze River Delta and their impact on the transport of heavy metal contaminants
Based on a large amount of survey data and literature research, the typical hydrogeological characteristics and stratigraphic distribution characteristics of the Yangtze River Delta were analyzed. The typical stratigraphic combinations of the soil groundwater system in the Yangtze River Delta were then summarized and their impact on the transport of heavy metal contaminants was analyzed. The research results show that the environmental hydrogeological zoning of the Yangtze River Delta is mainly composed of plain areas, low mountain hilly areas and hilly plain areas, accounting for 49.2%,36.2%and 14.6%of the area, respectively.Different types of groundwater are mainly distributed in these areas, which are pore water, bedrock fissure water and pore fissure water together with pore karst water, respectively.Typical stratigraphic combinations can be summarized into four categories. The saturated zone in Combination A is mainly composed of high permeability soil layers, with strong convection and dispersion effects, weak soil adsorption capacity, and easy transport of heavy metals with groundwater flow.In combination B,there is interaction between high and low permeability soil layers in the saturated zone, and heavy metals are easy to transport in high permeability soil layers and not easy to transport in low permeability soil layers. In combination C,the saturated zone is mainly composed of low permeability soil layers, with weak convection and dispersion effects.Heavy metals are easily adsorbed by the soil and are not easy to transport. In combination D,the saturated zone is mainly composed of fractured bedrock, and the bedrock is buried shallowly. The transport of heavy metals is related to factors such as the thickness of the gas bearing zone, the type of medium, and the lithology and degree of fragmentation of the bedrock. The research results can provide a certain theoretical basis for the prevention and control of heavy metal contaminant in soil in the Yangtze River Delta.
