Impact of land and sea transportation connection project on the spatial and temporal evolution of landscape patterns in the island region:a case study of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone
The land-island transportation connectivity project is an important link between land and island regions. Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the impact of land-island connectivity transportation projects on the spatiotemporal evolution of the landscape pattern in island areas for maintaining the ecological environment quality of island areas and achieveing sustainable development. This study focuses on the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone in Fujian Province. We used 10 m resolution land use data from 2017 to 2022 to examine the impact of the mainland-island transport connection project on the spatial and temporal evolution of landscape patterns in the island region with the aid of a panel regression model. The results show that:(1)During 2017-2022,landscape pattern of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone showed a significant trend of improving inter-patch connectivity and increasing agglomeration, while the degree of fragmentation, landscape diversity, and heterogeneity continued to decrease;(2)From the spatial perspective, there are obvious heterogeneity of landscape patterns between central and fringe zone of the island, with the interior exhibiting higher aggregation and fragmentation trends compared to the edges;(3)The panel regression model shows that the construction of the public-railway bridge has a significant negative effect on landscape contagion, indicating that the opening of the public railway bridge has resulted in a fragmentation trend of landscape pattern in Pingtan island.
