Porphyromonas gingivalis(Pg)has been proved to be one of gram-negative oral pathogens, which colonizes in the gingival anaerobe biofilm and causes local periodontitis.Pg spreads from colonized gums to other body parts through body fluids to cause a variety of systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular and ce-rebrovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases,Alzheimer's disease, cancer. It is difficult for the drug to reach the gum and continuous administration of the drug is easy to cause drug resistance of the bacteria, and the e-radication effect cannot be achieved. Therefore, the selection of appropriate antigen sites to stimulate the im-mune system to produce neutralizing antibodies is the key to vaccine research. In this paper, the pathogenesis and mechanism of Pg were summarized, and the related virulence factors were comprehensively reviewed to provide targets for the elimination and prevention of Pg infection, and the potential of these virulence factors as vaccines was evaluated and analyzed from the per-spective of vaccinology.
