Qualitative Study on Obstacles Encountered by Wound,Ostomy and Continence Nurses in Providing"Internet Plus Nursing Service"
Objective To explore the obstacles encountered by wound,ostomy and continence(WOC)nurses in providing"Internet plus nursing service"through semi-structured interviews,aiming to facilitate the implementation of relevant services.Methods From February to April 2022,total of 11 WOC nurses in Shandong Province were selected to receive semi-structured interviews regarding the challenges and obstacles in providing"Internet plus nursing service".Their interview data was coded and refined based on grounded theory and Colaizzi's 7-step analysis method.Results The obstacles encountered by WOC nurses in providing"Internet plus nursing service"were refined into the following five aspects based on the interview results:1)inadequate support and safeguard policies,posing risks for both nurses and patients;2)nurse specialists facing time-consuming tasks and role conflicts;3)immature service pricing and medical cost payment system;4)limited ability of elderly patients to utilize the Internet,requiring urgent strengthening of platform construction,and 5)less well-established IoT systems,such as medical consumables and waste disposal systems.Conclusion Relevant departments should pay attention to medical and nurse safety in the provision of"Internet plus nursing service".In addition,they should establish and enhance relevant policies and systems,build specialized nursing teams,construct and improve service platforms and IoT systems,and optimize service pricing and medical insurance policies.These measures will ensure a robust development of"Internet plus nursing service"in the field of WOC to better satisfy the health care needs of home-based patients.
