Effect of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Therapy on Care Burden of Primary Caregivers of Pa-tients Undergoing Permanent Enterostomy
Objective To explore the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy on resilience and care burden of primary caregivers of patients undergoing permanent enterostomy. Methods A total of 380 primary caregivers were selected by convenience sampling who cared for patients undergoing permanent enterostomy in a Grade Ⅲ-A hospital in Shanghai from March 2021 to December 2022.They were randomly divided into the control group(n=190)and the observation group(n=190).The control group was given routine nursing intervention, while the observation group was given a 4-week mindfulness-based stress reduction intervention. The resilience and care burden pre-and post-intervention were compared between the two groups based on the Resilience Scale and Zarit Burden Interview. Results After 4 weeks of intervention, the scores of all dimensions of the Resilience Scale in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the scores of all dimensions of the Zarit Burden Interview in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy can enhance the resilience level of primary caregivers of patients undergoing permanent enterostomy, regulate their unhealthy psychological tendencies and reduce their care burden.
