Objective To investigate the level of health information-seeking behaviors in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases(COPD)and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From January 2021 to December 2022,a total of 137 elderly patients with COPD who were admitted to Leping Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jiangxi Province were selected by convenience sampling. They were investigated using the General Information Questionnaire,Health Information Seeking Behaviors(HISB),Chronic Disease Self-Efficacy Scale(CDSES),Health Literacy Management Scale(HeLMS)and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ).Results Among the 137 elderly patients with COPD,the average score of HISB was(123.24±15.64)points.Multivariate linear regression analysis identified several risk factors affecting health information-seeking behaviors in these patients, including monthly household income per capita<RMB 3000,below junior high school education, low self-efficacy,low health literacy and negative coping style(P<0.05).Conclusion The level of health information-seeking behaviors is low in elderly patients with COPD.Healthcare providers should formulate and implement individual health education and intervention programs according to the risk factors such as monthly household income per capita, education level,self-efficacy,health literacy and coping style,so as to improve their level of health information-seeking behaviors.
